Abstract: The study sought to determine the effect of facultative proportional reinsurance on accumulation risk management using Sanlam Allianz, a general insurance company in Dar es Salaam, as a case study. The study was grounded in Enterprise Risk Management Theory. A case study design was used at Sanlam Allianz, where data were collected and analyzed to examine relationships among variables. The study found that facultative proportional reinsurance supports accumulation risk management through risk-sharing arrangements, though its effectiveness depends on consistent application of terms. The study concluded that facultative reinsurance practices significantly influence accumulation risk management at Sanlam Allianz, depending on underwriting discipline, consistency, and capacity use. The study recommends strengthening proportional reinsurance structures, improving risk selection, and enhancing efficient capacity utilization. Further studies should examine other reinsurance types and extend to other insurers in Tanzania. DOI: https://doi.org/10.51505/IJEBMR.2026.10922 |
